The Lobsters Big Band swings hard, featuring the timeless music of Count Basie , Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Quincy Jones, as well as hip new arrangements--everything from 40's swing to hot latin and salsa. Led by keyboardist and arranger James "King Salmon" Lafferty, the full tilt big band is comprised of five saxes, four trumpets, four trombones, and the kickin' Lobster rhythm section.
The Lobsters Big Band features the soulful singing of Newark's own, Ms. Carrie Jackson. Leading the Lobster sax section on alto and clarinet is "Mrs. Lobster", Audrey Welber-Lafferty who can really tear up Benny Goodman's Sing Sing Sing. Featured soloists include: Nathan Ekland-trumpet, and 2 of the hottest tenor players: Matt Janiszewski and Professor Warren Fioretti, along with trombonists Pete Reichlin and Rob Edwards. On jazz guitar is David O'Rourke, veteran of the NY jazz scene. Also featured is Bob Ferry on guitar and vocals, taking The Lobsters into blues and, R&B dimensions.
